Yesterday was the new year! Happy New Year to you!
Yesterday was also the day I started my fitness routine. I decided to try eating 6 to 8 meals a day for two weeks, then start my fitness routine after two weeks of letting my body adjust. I went for my first run/walk yesterday. I spent 20 minutes, half of it running and half of it walking in my neighborhood. I recall somone saying they’d rather walk steep inclines than run since there’s less impact on the body by doing so. Well I’m in luck because most of my neighborhood is steep inclines and it makes it a chore to run.
I will probably end up running it though, unless I decide to jump in my car and go to the park to do my normal laps. It will mostly depend on how much time I have to spare. If I have lots of time, I’ll jump in my car and drive to the park because I prefer to run on a flat surface. If not, I’ll just run in the neighborhood and walk the steep inclines.
I also prefer to run during the early morning or late afternoon since the sun will be lower and it won’t be such a drain to run. We’ll see how it goes. Since I ran yesterday, I will weight train today, then run tomorrow. Alternating days will help me recouperate a bit I hope.
It felt good to get out and finally start burning some calories. I hope I can keep this up!

I’ve been struggling to keep up with my 6 to 8 meals formula the last few days. Thankfully the addition of easy to eat pre-made meals has come in to save the day. It doesn’t help that my lunch and dinner are usually huge. I’ve got to remember to cut my portion size in half.
Yesterday I took a can of Pork and Beans and decided it would make a good in between meal of 100 calories or so. I had to divide the can into 3 equal portions which I find is just enough to just eat and run. I put them into little ziploc containers and put into the microwave for 30 seconds to heat up and then eat. Good stuff. Protien!

It’s very tough to stay on a diet during the holiday season. It’s even harder to keep eating 6-8 meals a day during the holiday season! Going to family parties simply makes me load up on too much food and then I’m way too full to eat anything again when it’s time for my next meal.
I guess the answer is just to eat less and eat slowly while at these parties. I am so very tempted to load my plate up with as much food as I normally would but I have to remember that I’ll be eating again in 2 hours. This means I should just remember to eat less and eat slowly. It’s tough but it’s what I need to do to keep up with this until my metabolism is working the way it should.
So instead of piling on the food, I’ll pick and choose small quantities of everything and hope that it satisfies me. It’s a really tough mental game I play since I’m hungry but at least I know I’ll have to eat again in a couple of hours.
Last night, I went to the market and bought some turkey cold cuts to eat with my wraps. I also bought more eggs that I went ahead and boiled up. Oh and of course more yogurt! The New Years Eve parties and the New Years parties are coming soon! Wish me luck!

Today was going pretty good, except for dinner. I went to dinner with my wife and we ate at Carl’s. I did my best not to eat the whole burger but i think it’s okay.
I wanted to add that I eat my hard boiled eggs but no yolk. I also take in about 4 liters of water during the work day. That lands me in the bathroom quite often though.
Also I ordered a grilled chicken wrap but only ate half of it. I left the other half for tomorrow possibly. We’ll see.
7am: Eggs, Brown Rice, and Vienna Sausage. I didn’t make this meal. My grandfather did. I’m very blessed.
9am: Hard boiled egg, no yolk, handfull of pistatios
11am: Grilled chicken wrap (half of it)
3am: Hard boiled egg, cup of yogurt and granola
5pm: Carl’s Jr. Western Burger and onion rings

So today I went back to work after yesterdays crazy feast. It’ll be hard to stick with this until probably after the new year when the festivities calm down. So far, I’m not too sure it’s working but then again, I haven’t put too much effort into it. I also don’t know exactly how much I should be eating per meal. I just try to stay small.
7am: Cereal and Skim Milk - Frosted Mini Wheats and Cheerios
9am: Hard boiled egg and Pistatios
11am: Subway sandwich, baked Lays Bar-BQ chips and a small diet drink. The sandwich was a 6″ turkey sub on wheat, no cheese, or mayo. Dijon mustard, lettuce, onions, 3 jalepenos, vinegar.
1pm: Yogurt and granola and a hard boiled egg
3pm: Spam Roll (sushi)
5pm: spaghetti and greenbeans
7pm: Yogurt and granola and a whole wheat, low fat tortilla wrap skin.

Well today is Christmas and already I’m a bit off!
9:30am: Two pieces of cornbread and water
11:30am: 6 Triscuit with light peanutbutter
12:30pm: lots of different foods on one plate. A few deserts. I think I ate just enough and didn’t go back for seconds. water.
3:00pm: Pistatio nuts, Yogurt and granola
6:00pm: roast beef, chinese chicken salad, diet pepsi, cake noodle and some chicken.
It was tough to eat small meals on a schedule today. I did my best. Tonight I boiled some eggs and packed some yogurt for tomorrows in-between meals.

Today was a tough day. Christmas festivities and running around make it hard to stick to my diet plans. I’ll have to remember to start preparing more food so I can be prepared to eat on time. I also have to remind myself to EAT LESS and more frequently!
I also find that by eating constantly, I am going to the bathroom a bit more. This is okay since I drink a lot of water too!
9am: McDonalds McSkillet Burrito, Powerade
11am: Soup (mushroom and spinach) and half of a Southwest Chicken sandwich on wheat
1pm: Yogurt and granola
3pm: missed this meal too much going on
5pm: huge dinner of prime rib, mashed potatos, asparagus, kalua pig
I’m too full to eat any more today. Yikes!
Went grocery shopping too so I’m stocked up on some healthy wraps, eggs, granola and lots of yogurt. I have to start planning better. Tomorrow is Christmas day so I’m expecting that it will be tough to stick to the diet tomorrow as well. *sigh*

Eating 6 to 8 meals a day might sound easy, but it isn’t! It’s really hard to stay on schedule when you are out and about, and it’s not convenient to stop and eat something. I plan to pick up and prepare things I can eat on the go, like boiled eggs, nuts, maybe some protien bars or granola bars. Some shredded wheat cereal or other type of cereal. My day was thrown off by late starts and late meals because we were stuck in a car and I still haven’t gone to the grocery store.
Here’s what i ate so far…
9am: Jack in the Box Meaty Burrito - (hope this has enough protein in it), Hash browns and small drink, lots of water.
11am: Roasted Pistatio nuts
1pm: Lunch - pizza and cheese balls (not the healthiest thing in the world!)
3pm: A bowl of oatmeal
7pm: Curry and rice
I’ll try to be better tomorrow. I still need to go grocery shopping!

In order to do this diet correctly, I’m going to have to prepare in advance so that I have food to eat all the time. Every two hours from my first meal, I’ll have to eat something. I plan on going to the super market to pick up a lot of things to eat. I’m not much of a fruit person, but I’ll try it if it will help me lose weight.
I plan to make some boiled eggs, low fat peanut butter sandwiches, oranges, some nuts, some beans, cheese sticks and yogurt.
Healthy foods for all meals if I can.

Here’s a daily food journal I will make in order to have some sort of management for the foods I eat and take a look at how things are going with this diet. This is the template I’ll use:
First Meal:
Second Meal:
Third Meal:
Fourth Meal:
Fifth Meal:
